About Godfrey Illinois

Situated in Madison County, Illinois, Godfrey is village with an estimated population of more than 18,000 residents. Lying within the greater St. Louis metropolitan area, it’s one of the newest municipalities in the State of Illinois. Godfrey is also the 8th largest municipality in Illinois in terms of geographic area.


While the village has primarily developed as a residential community, much of it remains devoted to agriculture with output comprising of both commercial and food crops. Godfrey has experienced rapid development over the years and with the completion of ongoing of highway projects, additional growth is anticipated.


The completion of Illinois Route 255, in particular, is expected to promote both residential and commercial growth. While Godfrey is officially recognized as a village, it’s a fine blend of small businesses, agriculture as well as upper middle class developments, all of which make it a great place to live and work.
